How to Attract More Hummingbirds Next Summer

It’s currently December, which means most homeowners aren’t thinking about their gardening, but sometimes it’s good to be prepared and ready for the warmer months ahead of time. Our favorite little birds have left for the winter, so it’s sad to think about them, since they’re not around right now. The good news is we can always make plans to bring them back in the summertime. To ensure more Hummingbirds come around next summer, it’s important to take a few steps to ensure this.

Attract Hummingbirds with the Proper Plants

Our shrub and tree nursery sells 5 different plants that hummingbirds love, and if you hurry up and get some planted in your yard before winter, they’ll be ready to attract those little birds by this coming spring. Since it’s December already, this is something to keep in mind for the end of next summer or the fall.

Consider putting in some buttonbush, Indian current, trumpet vine, butterfly bush and oak around your yard. This variety allows you some choice, so if you are better at planting shrubs than trees, go with the buttonbush, for example. This time of year may not be the most opportune time to plant a deciduous tree, so this is something to keep in mind for next year when there is more rainfall.
